ROBOT New product: Modular RTUs

FANUC has developed a new general-purpose RTU that can be adjusted to have a stroke length from 1m to a maximum of 20m in 0.5m increments by combining modules.

Conventional RTUs were customized and shipped for each user as a peripheral equipment for robot systems. FANUC’s newly developed RTU will be shipped as a general purpose standard product.

The features of the Modular RTUs are as follows.

• Adjustable stroke and modular design
• Compact footprint and silhouette
• Enhanced software functions integrated into the robot software
• Reliable factory assembled quality
• Global supply and maintenance through FANUC's sales and service network

For the initial release, FANUC will start production of RTUs for the M-710, R-1000, and R-2000 series, which are the main models of FANUC robots.

The Modular RTUs can be powered by the new R-50iA Controller in addition to the conventional R-30iB Plus Controller. They can be selected according to your robot control type.

The Modular RTUs will be exhibited at the FANUC Open House (Japan) in May, in a demonstration of an actual application.

FANUC will begin production of the Modular RTUs from August 2024.
