ROBOT New product: Large Handling Robot M-1000/550F-46A
FANUC introduced the new M-1000/550F-46A with an extra-long reach, as a variant model to the popular M-1000 large handling robot.
In the automotive industry, large workpieces are molded as one piece using Giga Casts. As Giga Casts becomes larger, there is an increasing demand for robots with heavy payload capacity and long reach for part handling and mold release agent spraying. The new M-1000/550F-46A with a 550kg payload capacity and 4.6m reach is the perfect addition to the lineup of robots for 10,000 ton class Giga Cast applications.
Features:
Serial link structure
The M-1000/550F-46A features a serial link design, rather than the parallel link mechanism typical of heavy payload robots. The serial link design provides a much wider range of motion than standard parallel-link robots.
The robot’s J3 axis that allows the upper arm to point straight upwards and even flip over backwards, providing a large work envelope. This ability to stand straight upright allows the robot to compactly rotate without utilizing significant floor space, offering flexibility to easily adapt to tight workspaces and allow flexible layouts.
Long reach
The reach has increased by 40% to 4.6m, from 3.3m of the existing M-1000/1000F-33A. This reach rivals the length of the super heavy payload and longest reach robot, the M-2000 series, yet the M-1000/550F-46A has a wider range of motion both vertically and horizontally, allowing the upper arm to stand upright and rotate backwards. The long reach is achieved by utilizing a new motor with increased power on the basic axes.
Strong wrist
Giga Cast applications require ultra-strong wrists capacity in addition to a heavy payload capacity. This robot has a reach of over 4m and can not only lift workpieces weighing over 500 kg, but can also handle large workpieces whose center of gravity is far from the gripping position.
The controller utilizes the new R-50iA series. The latest functions of the controller can be utilized, contributing to making factories smarter.
